Conversation with Art Dealer Felipe Grimberg
I am very pleased to tell you about my friend, art dealer Felipe Grimberg. I met Felipe, a native Colombian, six years ago through an acquaintance, and soon after I learned that he is the owner of Felipe Grimberg Fine Art (FGFA), an art brokerage firm that specializes in recognizing and discovering great art.
For nearly twenty five years, FGFA has specialized in brokering Latin American and Contemporary art throughout the world. Felipe’s appreciation and knowledge in the field have helped him gain an impeccable international reputation among clients, galleries and collectors.
This is why I am so excited to share my conversations with this great art dealer and friend.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
My love of art began during my college studies of textile marketing and design in Philadelphia. During that time, I spent most of my weekends visiting art museums and galleries in New York. My passion for art led me to develop my own business mission – to recognize great art, present it to the world, and sell quality works that satisfy collectors’ investment and true emotional gratification, thereby enabling artists to fulfill their purpose and self-expression. This year I am celebrating my 25th anniversary as an art dealer.
Do you have your own studio and/or website?
I have my office @ 4770 Biscayne Blvd., Miami (by appointment only), or visit my website @ www.felipegrimberg.com. I also act as curator for art exhibitions in other places. To learn more about where I am or what I am working on, follow me @FGFineArt.
What inspires you?
That’s a tough question! There are many things that inspire me: art, nature, culture, museums, traveling, beauty, intelligence and getting to know people.
How did you start working with your material/media?
I am not an artist, thus I don’t have material or media. I help to create artists!
How does your art blend into your day-to-day?
Art is what I live for and what I have lived for the past 25 years.
Which artists do you admire?
Fernando Botero (Colombian), because of his talent, uniqueness of expression and originality. Also, Nina Surel (Argentinean), for her technique as well as her unique self-expression.
What’s next for you?
As and art dealer, to continue recognizing great art, present it to the world, and ensure financial viability by selling quality works of art that both maximize the buyer’s investment and provide an experience of true emotional gratification, thereby allowing artists to fulfill their purpose and self-expression.
Where do you live?
I live in Miami. I love Miami because it is a city that offers so many different things. It has beaches, beautiful scenery, landscape and people. There is lots of diversity and multicultural aspects that Miami provides for residents and tourists. In the art field, it offers art fairs, ballet, opera, symphony, pop and Latin concerts, and more. Miami has so greatly improved its gastronomic, residential, business, cultural and art offerings, that it attracts people from all over the world.

What do you enjoy the most?
Living for art and living in art!
This is what I call an “Art Junky” and, as a crafty brainiac, seeing what Felipe does for a living is a dream come true. Remember that next month is the most prestigious art show in the Americas, the ART BASEL, and FGFA will be there.
